Naturally, Steph’s assistant ‘The Big Cheetah’ had to choose her own family to talk about first!
Here are some facts about the late Giant Cheetah.
- Acinonyx pardinensis, commonly called Giant Cheetah.
- Existed 700,000 years ago in the Quaternary Period, specifically within the Early Pliocene to Late Pleistocene epochs.
- They were up to 2m in length and 1m in height
- They weighed over 90kg.
- The Giant Cheetah lived across Europe, Asia and Africa
- Some fossils have been found in caves in Africa
- Giant Cheetahs lived in wetlands
- They appeared to eat deer and other similar animals that lived in the wetlands area
- The possible cause of extinction was climate change
